Hikin' for Hooters!

Some folks know, others don't, that I have joined a team to walk 60 miles in 3 days for the fight against breast cancer. Crazy, right?!? Our clever team name is "Hikin' for Hooters!" There are 4 ladies in our team that will be heading out to San Francisco the first part of September to walk the Susan G. Komen 3-day! So far, we have mainly been focusing on our fundraising, since each of us must raise $2300, but now that the weather is becoming quite agreeable, our training will really get underway!

From what I've learn from my teammate, Kim, it is an experience I will not soon forget! She has tried not to give away too many details about the experience. She wants us to be blown away! But I'm looking forward to massive amount of walkers, crazy outfits, tons of supportive fans cheering us along, events before and after our walks each day, and hopefully an end to breast cancer!

I have been lucky enough not to lose anyone close to be from breast cancer, but I do have some friends that have had their own battles with this life stealer. What about you? Has breast cancer affected you or someone you love?

We're off and running...well, maybe not running, yet!

That's right, ladies and gentlemen! Miss Charlotte has officially taken her first steps! Charlie and I couldn't be prouder!

It all started Monday when I got home from work. Charlotte was all over the living room, getting into everything, when she popped her hiney in the air and slowly stood up all on her own! Up until then, she had to pull herself up by grabbing onto something. I texted Charlie since he wasn't home from work yet! (Little did I know we would have a much bigger milestone awaiting us later that night!)

After Charlie had made it home from work, the 3 of us played in the middle of the living room, like we do most nights. At one point, Charlotte stood up and looked over at Charlie. I suggested Charlie try to tempt her with a couple of her favorite toys...and there it was! One....two...three, four, and down! FOUR STEPS!!! I was so proud, I got all choked up! (I tell ya, I can cry at the drop of a hat since I had her!)

And I'm back....

Shortly after Charlie and I got married, I thought..."Wouldn't it be nice to start at blog!" I could tell anyone (especially fun friends that live far way) all the funny little stories that you miss when you no longer get to talk on a regular basis. I think I made it to 3 whole posts before my little blog fell by the wayside. Selling our old house, buying a new house, getting settled, getting pregnant, having a baby....the list of excuses goes on and on!

Well, I'M BACK!!

I'm hoping that this post will help me get back on track, and hopefully the posts will get far more entertaining! So, stay tuned...our crazy life will have plenty of blog-worthy moments!
